In 1977, I first fell in love with the New York Yankees, and I've been a fan ever since. It's sometimes not easy being a fan when you no longer live in New York, but we get a decent number of games broadcast nationally, and I follow the games that aren't on TV with MLB Audio and ESPN's GameCast.
My favorite current player? Derek Jeter. And no, not just because he has a great butt.

Starting with the years of the '77-'78 Dream Team, my idols for all my teenage years were Bucky Dent and his cross-town rival poster boy, Lee Mazzilli of the Mets. One of the most bittersweet days of my life was the day the Yankees acquired Mazzilli (then with the Texas Rangers), something I'd always hoped would happen...only to find they'd made an even trade for Dent.
